into the black.

runnin' down the road.

nevada... I think.

5.14.2014

from winnemucca to great basin.

climbing up some lonely mountain.
alone but for some old eagle.
we know each other exist.
and that is all.

as the bike slides to the east.
and the road turns to ice.
the wind and the motor the only sounds forever.
slow and easy like clouds.

do you remember easy rider?
wanna go with me?
well I guess that job's done.
were you ever there with me?

we lay down our lives everyday.
and think nothing until one day.
when we think everything.
and wait until someone tells us stop.
sven.

another day.

silver city, SD.

silver city, SD.

deadwood, SD.

on my second to last day I drove through the black hills (actually small mountains at the far eastern side of the rockies) in south dakota. the weather was very nice and it was pleasant riding until I finished the day on the freeway where I encountered high winds again. but the black hills were nice, especially silver city which my frozen imagination dreamt was shangri-la.

let it flow.

      lost on some endless highway.

                wyoming.

well we're all alone in some trucker town - rose, and we are forced to stop because of the weather.

sorry to leave you out in the snow but at least you have your blanket.

whistling down the wire.

                    utah.

guess I'll have to check my stats, but I think the 9,100 foot pass rose and I went over today, was the highest she's ever been. good job old girl. she got right up those icy roads and down the other side. and while I may grumble about the cold, she loves it.

see you out there.

the hills have eyes.

on the back roads of nevada. trying to out run mother nature - successful so far - for the most part.

off.

thursday morning 9 am wintermoor.
8 pm osceola iowa. yes you can ride a motorcycle in the winter but it wasn't fun.
it was 20° to 30° or so today, tomorrow in missouri it's supposed to be in the 60s so I'm out of the woods. heading to san francisco on rosie. (of course now we know the story and it was not pretty, no 'outta the woods!' - ed.)

5.31.2013

lost 'n' foggy on the great highway.

forever searching, searching for something you'll never find.
peaceful bird lands on your shoulder.
the wind in your hair tonight.
a sound somewhere no one understands but you.

the street seems hot tonight, though I know it's not.
white lights in the distance.
thunder coming minutes later.
you're rip van winkle again this night.
sven.

5.27.2013

lost in east oakland.

My Field Trip Last Tuesday May 21 To Oakland California To See Dead Bundy And The Neat Neat Neats At Eli's Mile High Club.
my journey began as we got onto the famous bay bridge, crossing to oakland from san francisco california. it is always an enjoyable experience for me to cross the bay bridge. there is plenty to see as the sky scrapers are slowly left behind and treasure island looms ahead.

once past treasure island we find ourselves driving next to the new span, which is being built next to the old one. below you can see a glimpse of the new span. it is sad to think of this tired, but majestic old bridge being usurped by the fresh new bridge, oh well, all things must pass (oops the new bolts are bad, it may be a while before we can close the old one).

here we are coming into oakland, into the urban wasteland we wheel. through depressed neighborhoods and historic ones we slowly make our way through town...

here is the beautiful fox theater, where a couple of years ago I was very fortunate to
see buffalo springfield and gillian welch, wow.

deeper and deeper we go into oakland,  until finally, we arrive at the bottom of a million freeways, where beneath their tangled shadows...

...lies eli's mile high club in oakland california.

one of our party gets dropped off, and as the load in begins, the remainder of the group heads over to berkely for dinner...

?!?

?!?

after some transportation snafus get ironed out we have dinner somewhere in the berkely hills in a (sorry, unknown to me) plain, yet scrumptious italian joint. dinner and drinks being consumed we return (with chris in the trunk again) to eli's for some more drinks and some music...

the thirsty three are on the bill with dbatnnn tonight (as are another band I didn't see). they were excellent and the drummer is some kinda crazy star. really great.

wonderful patio.
meet me in the lady's room.
our able bar keep.

then the reason we came: dead bundy revved up their rock 'n' roll engines. tonight they play like they mean it and earn the respect of the small but rousing crowd. another success along the long hard road.

good job gents, until next time.

so, farewell to eli's mile high club in oakland california and dead bundy and the neat neat neats and the thirsty three.
sven.

p.s. thanks chris and anna!
