saint dinnete.

remember that night at the saint dinette.
how the stars twinkled for us.
halloween leaves blowing...
down the sidewalk in front of us.

how someone threw pennies at your feet.
you said never mind the pain.
because it's only a dream.
and other things I'm not sure I heard.

it's a calm and peaceful morning.
except for some distant looks and coffee.
that made me stop and think.
about all those halloween leaves...

she says come on home and stay awhile.
but my mind is spinning.
my body's shaking and I'm cold.
and I've forgotten how to laugh.

twenty nine reasons.

oh dear, how tired you must be.
alive in your castle but hiding in the tower.
I still see the look on your face.
as you passed so eerily by.

a summer's day is for stealing.
that's what they told you.
they really taught you to play for keeps.
but don't you know you steal from yourself?

a silver stake in my heart.
and all your friends who love you more.
wait for me to sink beneath this lighting scorched earth.
where only tears will grow.

more wine and mirrors.
and may you never grow old.
or ever take your glasses off to see.
as for me? nothing but a dream...

our lady of the manor.
what shall we do it's tuesday?
with nothing but gold and dahlias to surround you.
and your mind so slowly, slowly spinning.

saw this wagon filled with water the other day. I took this picture as two little girls watched me - probably wondering why I was taking a picture of their broke down wagon...

walker.

the walker is a cool place. having visited quite a few museums around the country I'm sorry to to have to tell you, ours are pretty great. the walker is one of them. have to ignore the nasty bits and maybe that's hard with kids, not sure kids should go to the walker, at least parts of it...
here's a video of my visit. sven

vermeer

Today I took a trip to the art museum to see the vermeer painting, and to revisit some of my favorites including this wonderful deKooning. There was also a new modern collection on loan. I skipped the visting Hapsburgs show, the big excitement that day. I just don't have enough interest in armor and classical paintings to endure the crowds and pay the $20... am I just a cretin?

The Vermeer 'show' is only one painting: 'Lady reading a letter'. Since there are only 37 known Vermeer paintings that's understandable. It was beautiful. I was surprised to find it not much larger than an image you could find in a book! It's only a little over 15x18" I looked at it briefly. I was there to see it first but I was shortly followed by many others who crowded around me, spoiling the idyll for me - "go see the armor!"

Nobody bothered my while I reexamined my deKooning though! And the middle aged chap I enlisted to take photos of me in front of it has a story he can share about his visit. He seemed somewhat nonplussed! ta ta for now... sven.

that's all folks!
